The town centre is small and very walkable, but there are regular buses to connect you to the train station, lifts, and nearby towns.

St Moritz is very well connected, and its beautiful location makes whichever way you choose to arrive into resort a stunning experience.

Travelling by car

Roads in the region are well maintained and easily accessed by car. If you are nervous about driving on mountain roads, there is an option to load your car onto a train through the Vereina Tunnel.

Travelling by train

Many of the routes to St Moritz will take you along a UNESCO World Heritage railway line. Mountain scenery and genius examples of engineering have many claiming this to be the most picturesque mountain route in the world.

Transfer

There are a range of transfer options into St Moritz, including taxi, limousine, and helicopter services. Samedan airport is only a 10-minute drive from the resort and can be accessed by charter flight or private jet. Our concierge service can take care of this for you.

Après ski in St Moritz is renowned for stylish parties and shameless indulgence. There is an abundance of glitzy bars and exclusive clubs to explore. But don’t be discouraged if you prefer your nights more low-key. With over 150 bars and restaurants, this resort offers plenty of variety for every type of evening affair. And if you don’t like going back into the cold between pubs, St Moritz has its very own indoor bar mile.

Refuel with a hot mulled wine or ice-cold beer before making your final descent.

•         Sternbar Margunsis a super trendy open-air bar surrounded by panoramic views of the Marguns ski area. Modern décor, live music and fun cocktails make this place effortlessly cool.
•         Pirates on the Rockshosts daily mountain parties and plays all the après ski hits. Just make sure you pace yourself so you can enjoy the long cruise back home.
•         Altohas converted a disused cable car into a bar and slope-side chill-out space. It isn’t far from town, so is the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset on your way down.

Whether you want boot-stomping mischief, a cosy pub, or a classy place to sip champagne, there is something for everyone back in town.

•         The legendary Roo Baris a must-visit, and their terrace will be packed out nightly. It is unrivalled for its lively atmosphere and mulled wine.
•         The Devil’s Palaceis the world’s largest whisky bar with over 2500 varieties for you to try. Afterwards, head to their neighbouring smoker’s room and choose from a large selection of cigars.
•         For wine and cosy conversations, Pavarotti and Friendsserves candlelit wine and tapas and has a glorious cellar. The Italian Balthazar Bar also has a lovely collection of wine, champagne and cocktails and regularly play live piano.

Continue the night into the early hours with exclusive clubs and plenty of dancing.

•         Bailandowill have you dreaming of warmer climates, with plenty of Latino music and an atmosphere to match.
•         For an evening you won’t forget, the Engadine pub Schweizerhof Stubliis always packed. Live music will have you wanting to continue the party well past the 2am close.
•         The notorious Kings Social Club at Badrutt’s Palace may be the oldest club in Switzerland. The exclusive all-in-one bar, restaurant, and nightclub hosts well-known DJs and has no official closing time.

As a two times host of the Winter Olympic Games and 5 Alpine Ski World Championships, it is no surprise that the pistes of St Moritz are of outstanding quality. Access 350km of terrain with the Engadin ski pass, all while basking in the St Moritz sun. The ski area is celebrated for its variety, so there will be something to keep every type of skier in your group happy.

The ski area

Lifts were recently updated, so you will find it quick and easy to explore and travel between ski areas. St Moritz has multiple ski zones, but these are our top 3:

·          Corviglia is the easiest area to access and is very well connected. It is popular for cruising blues, easy reds, and its early morning powder.

·          Corvatsch is a dream for keen skiers, with excellent snow, astounding views and an exciting diversity of slopes. It is also home to Switzerland’s longest slope for night-time skiing.

·          Diavolezza is a little out of the way but a must-visit for advanced skiers. The 10km glacier run into Morteratsch will definitely make the journey worth it.

Boarders

St Moritz is very well suited to snowboarders, with well-groomed pistes and plenty of backcountry to discover. Corviglia may get a little too crowded to be enjoyable, but Diavolezza should only be attempted if you are ready to get your adrenaline pumping. If you get a good dump of snow, spend the day in Maloja for quiet slopes and untouched powder.

Newer boarders will enjoy Zouz for its uncrowded piste and smaller park. Pontresina is also well liked for its wide, easy slopes.

With multiple parks throughout the resort, the one at Corvatch is the largest and is also one of the biggest in the alps. While you’re there, check out Curtinella for some natural hits. The off-piste potential in St Moritz is huge. There are fantastic freeriding opportunities in Diavolezza and at Piz Nair. We recommend hiring a guide to keep you safe and help you to find those hidden gems.

Beginners

St Moritz has first rate ski schools and wonderful beginner’s areas. The morning and afternoon commute may be a little time consuming though, as the nursery slopes are not in the most convenient locations.

Corviglia is a good area for beginners, with practice lifts and dedicated slopes for slower or newer skiers. The Languard in Pontresina also has gentle slopes that are ideal for young beginners. Pontresina is generally a more relaxed and family-oriented area so is perfect for encouraging progression.

Our recommended ski schools:

·          The Swiss Ski School St Moritz is well established and is the largest ski school in Switzerland. They have private and group lessons for children and adults. They are particularly popular for children’s lessons thanks to their dedicated kid’s village and resident mascot Snowli.

·          Passion Ski School are a small team dedicated to conscious and nature-focused snow sports. They offer private and group lessons for children and adults. Because of their focus on appreciation for the surrounding landscapes, this is also a great choice for ski touring and freeriding.

·          The highly qualified instructors at European Snow Sports offer private ski and snowboard lessons and off-piste tuition.

Intermediates

Intermediates are unlikely to get bored, with endless reds and blues to master. The wide pistes at Corviglia were made for cruising amongst panoramic views. When you start looking for a challenge, the slopes in the Marguns Bowl are a little more interesting. Diavolezza may seem intimidating, but if you are ready to push yourself, there are all red routes back to the base and snow conditions are usually excellent.

Advanced

Corvatsch has some great terrain for advanced skiers, who should try the Standard Run. Starting at the summit, the ridge gets progressively steeper before arriving back on an easy black. Seasoned experts will want to head straight to Diavolezza and Lagalb for the hair-raising black runs. The unbelievable glacier run at Diavolezza is certainly one to tick off the bucket list.

Piz Nair and Corvatsch have some great off-piste, but a true mountain explorer should hire a guide to take them down the Roseg Valley. The heli-skiing at Fuorcla Chamoutsch is also an excellent day out with otherworldly views.

The resort is graced with fantastic weather throughout the winter season. High quality snowmaking facilities and two glacier runs ensure favourable snow conditions. There are also many fun and unusual events happening throughout the winter that will make your trip to St Moritz even more memorable.

Expect good skiing conditions from mid-December onwards. The lead-up to Christmas is a magical time in St Moritz. Sip Glühwein from the Christmas market and delight in sleigh rides across the frozen lake
